Netherlands pavilion wins AD Award 2021
The Netherlands pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai wins Architectural Digest Design Award 2021 under the category ‘Innovation & Sustainability’.
At the award ceremony held in Dubai, Maarten Froger, Deputy Commissioner General at the Consulate General of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, was presented with the award.
“Evoking all senses and self-sufficiently growing food in the desert, the Netherlands pavilion is testament to what human ingenuity can create when working with nature”, said Architectural Digest.
Last week, the pavilion’s solar skylights designed by Marjan van Aubel won the Dutch ARC21 Innovation Award. According to the jury, Marjan van Aubel Studio and V8 Architects have realised “a grand design with a small footprint”.
In September, the construction of the pavilion was awarded with the ‘Sustainable Construction Project of the Year Award’ as part of the renowned Big 5 Impact Awards in the MENA region.
